NC Child Care Coalition: Early Childhood Lobbyist and Year –Round Public Policy Consultant  

The NC Child Care Coalition, a project of the N.C. Early Childhood Association (NCECA), is the predominant statewide advocacy specific organization dedicated to promoting high quality, accessible, affordable child care and early childhood services in North Carolina. Founded in 1990, we accomplish our mission of advocacy and education by:

• Developing policy positions shared with elected officials -- members of our Coalition assisted in the creation of the child care rated license, Smart Start and More at Four.

• Researching and producing facts sheets for our members, legislators, legislative and executive branch staff, and the media

• Financially supporting a full time early childhood lobbyist at the State Legislature

• Providing advocacy workshops at all major statewide early childhood conferences

The NC Child Care Coalition led the way for statewide implementation of the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Project as well as continued advocacy efforts for increased funding for Child Care Subsidy and fair rates for child care providers. Our membership includes 20 statewide partner organizations, regional associations, and local early childhood agencies, child care providers, and interested individuals.

The North Carolina Child Care Coalition invites applicants for the position of Early Childhood Lobbyist and Year-round Public Policy Consultant starting January 2, 2011 . The North Carolina Child Care Coalition is a statewide organization made up of many early childhood partners. It is our mission to advocate for affordable, accessible, quality early care and education for North Carolina’s children and their families because they are the future of North Carolina. The successful candidate is responsible for providing state legislative/executive branch lobbying services and information, education, and outreach services in the area of early childhood. See attached job description for a more detailed description of duties. B.A. degree and three years of experience with same or similar duties is required. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in legislative lobbying or government relations . Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
